In our Farm stall and on markets we sell many unique products that have been handcrafted in different countries of Africa. It is with much joy, care and pride that we have selected these items, each revealing the stunning creativity of the artist. These items tell you about the beauty and love for Africa, the way many of us recognise it.

Now you can buy African handicraft from our website. Often these items come in unique designs, so we select the most beautiful ones for you. Please get in touch if you want to know an exact size or ask for a special design! Certainly, you are free to change your product within 30 days when purchased on the Internet. Should there be an additional postage cost, it will be at your expense.

Spoons of wood & bone (order on the internet)

The Akamba people in Kenya carve wonderful salad spoons, smaller spoons, and butter knives decorated with bone from cow or goat. The unique pattern comes from resin that leaves a white trace when the bone is held over fire. You can wash them by hand, and with some care, also in the dishwasher. Treat your spoons with cooking oil after washing them! All items have unique patterns. Please get in touch to discuss your wishes, if you like.

Handmade textiles from South Africa (order on the internet)

With Table Mountain as a backdrop in a Cape Town suburb, Colette works passionately in her own garage studio. Her hands move swiftly, using lots of paint in vibrant colours. Her expressive African images and shapes are full of life and energy. All her textiles are 100 % cotton, and can be machine washed at 40°C. We sell aprons for children in two designs, potholders in three designs, and cushion covers in three designs. There are also other cushion covers and adult aprons in the same designs as the potholders. Get in touch if you want to know more!

Handmade cushion covers from Zimbabwe (order on the internet)

These carefully made Guinea Fowl cushion covers (zip and covered buttons) were hand-printed in Zimbabwe on strong cotton. They are in rusty colours, soft pink, brown and black. Wash them at 40°C. We sell two sizes (38 x 38 cm & 52 x 52 cm).

Rooibos Soap (order on the internet)

This glycerine soap contains a blend of rooibos and honey. Rooibos, the red tea, is a loved drink with fantastic health properties (see our African red tea). In this gentle soap, with an invigorating fragrance, rooibos has a positive cleansing effect on the skin. It gives extra care for those with dry skin, eczema, or allergies. In South Africa, children with nappy rash are bathed in rooibos. Use as hand soap or in the shower. Not tested on animals. Weight: 120 g.

We are proud to show you these handcrafted leather bracelets with unique African patterns, inspired by the Ndebele people in Northern South Africa. These bracelets come in five different colour combinations). In all of these, patterns are unique and vary. When you order a bracelet, please let us know your wrist circumference (in cm) and we will select the one that fits you the best (not too loose and not too tight). They all open with a small button. You may also tell us your wishes regarding your bracelet (narrow, wide, a second choice of colour etc) and we will really try to accommodate you.

Geckos, whales, baskets, elephants, and towel hangers...you name it! Simba Kaparepare, originally from Zimbabwe, gives form and function to anything with his beadwork. We also sell Christmas decorations made by women in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Baobab floor mats from Zimbabwe

Many Africans believe that there is no such thing as a young Baobab. These trees can be enormous and up to 3000 years old. The fibrous bark from the fat trunk of the Baobab is the source for many products; including baskets, ropes and these stunningly beautiful hand-platted floor mats. Harvesting of the bark is ecologically sustainable, using only a portion of the fat tree trunk each time. The injury heals rapidly.

There are many legends and myths about the Baobab. Because the tree looses its leaves in the dry season, it is said that God planted the tree upside-down, with its roots in the air. If you pick the flower of a Baobab, you risk to be attacked by a lion, because the flowers of Baobabs contain lots of spirits. There are also those who believe that if a man drinks an infusion of the bark, he will be protected from crocodiles and become very strong. These Baobab carpets are also very strong and tough!

In the heart of the Overberg wheat fields, near the southernmost tip of Africa, lies the town Bredasdorp in South Africa. Here the Kapula candles & ceramics are individually hand-painted in vibrant colours. Following different themes, their designs and patterns are inspired by traditional African art. Their warmth brings to your home, the trembling heat of the African sun and the cool freshness of the Indian Ocean.

A trembling circle in burnt orange and red, a silhouette of roosting egrets in black, and the soft darkness that overpowers you when the night falls. If you have ever been there, perhaps on the savannah, African sunset ceramics brings it all back to you. These household ceramics are to treasure in your every day life. Binga baskets from Zimbabwe

These beautiful Binga baskets are individually hand-woven, each with a story. Use them as fruit or breadbaskets, or as stunning wall hangings.

Zulu baskets from South Africa

Isiquabetho, ukhamba and iqoma...the names of these hand-made Ilala palm baskets tell the story of how they serve a special function in traditional Zulu life. The art of basket weaving is carried from generation to generation. The tight coil-weave makes the baskets air tight, so that they can be used for carrying and serving liquids, for storing herbs, and for gathering and carrying grain. The Zulu baskets are beautiful as fruit or breadbaskets, containers for tea or coffee, and as wall hangings.
